1, 2, 3, SMILE!

March 30, 2009

I miss going out for photoshoots. I have forgotten how it felt like being so absorbed standing at a particular spot taking countless pictures. Just to get the ‘right’ picture you have to be patient and keep on trying all kind of modes and functions to suit the whole frame. Sometimes, with a lil’ help from editing softwares helps.

The last photoshoot I had was at the railway two months ago with girlfriends + two of their boyfriends. It was some sort of an outing to unwind ourselves before examinations. Hmm.. I have much to learn with regards to potraits & people.

Truthfully, after the Visual Diary last July, most pictures of what I have taken till now feels redundant and dull.

Anyhow, when you’re out on photoshoots with friends they will wait for you to finish and vice versa. During that moment you’ll share tips, show each other what you’ve taken and discuss what needs to be done better. That’s the best part of photoshoots to me.

Oh well, I was merely reading back two of my photography magazines and started reminiscing the good ‘ol times.

Sunset at Marina Park.

Mas & Ain

Let’s go out for photoshoots love ones! Pretty please..

Right now we’re already busy but InsyaAllah when we have manage to organise photoshoots, we’ll keep snapping pictures of each other and with every photograph taken, it’ll be a stand still of memories collated. =)

And I decided to start photography from scratch. Wassalam.

Oh, the colour green!

March 29, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum.

Earth Hour was yesterday, for those who forgets. My two brothers and I were the enthusiastic ones supporting the campaign in the family. Heh.

In the afternoon yesterday, I blog hop and found a guy’s blog with regards to Earth Hour with a Islamic perspective. It kinda knock some real hard sense into me. Due to what he wrote, at 8.30pm, I prayed Isyak in darkness  (meaning: I gave in to my mind and threw away the reluctance from my heart).

Alhamdulillah syukr. It felt good; doing the solah in darkness. Lagi pun, rasa macam bangun untuk solat sepertiga malam, sunyi sangat. Best. It may be difficult to gauge the effectiveness of this campaign in Singapore (as said by the promoters themselves in the news), but having the awareness of giving back to the Earth and helping to save / protect the Earth just by switching the lights for an hour is good enough as a first step.

Astaghfirullah hal’aziim. I forgot the guy’s blog url (I really do want to share with you but alahai.. Lupa pulak.) and he typed with such clarity of evidence from the Quran and Hadith regarding our responsibilities as human beings in saving the Earth. Alhamdulillah Allah beri petunjuk dan sedarkan diri ini yang penuh dengan ignorance.

And also, I read Talib Al Habib blog after reading that guy’s blog. I found out that Rasulullah SAW loves the colour green. =)

A paragraph from his blog entry:

Syakh Hamka Yusuf mentioned that the Prophet (s) was born in spring and loved green. He continued that green was the first colour the eye could perceive, and the last it could make out; the middle of the spectrum of light. Green is also the colour of chlorophyll, which mediates the photosynthesis in plants – the conversion of pure light in energy and nourishment that ultimately allows our continued existence. The parallels are manifest but beautiful nonetheless: he (s) is from the light of Allah, the first Prophet and the last, the moderate and median way, neither too harsh nor too lenient; he is the source of nourishment and the means of continuation for all spiritual life. He (s) is, the commentaries of the Quran mention, the solitary flowering tree in the midst of a barren desert – from whose fruits all men feast, and beneath whose boughs all find shade and rest.

Interesting? Yes? Yes. Hehe.

Oh! There was an article of a Swiss Islamic scholar, Dr Tariq Ramadan in The Straits Times yesterday. I’ll pick two of what was written by the Senior Writer on his incisive, inclusive approach views:

1) What Muslims need most..

“A deep faith, but also a critical mind.”

2) His definition of a critical mind..

“It means to be self-critical, and to look at what is happening, what we are doing, in which way we are failing and what are the meanings of these failures.”

I totally agree with him. No matter if we want to move forward and change for the better, it must start with ourselves first isn’t it?

How educational yesterday was.. Alhamdulillah syukr Ya al-Muhyi (The Giver of Life). =)

I hope this post is beneficial to you, likewise it has been to me. InsyaAllah. Wassalam.

Exercising is tiring.

March 23, 2009

Finally, I’ve made good use of my Adidas shoes by going to the gym with Nariyah. Yes, you heard it right; the gym. Once we stepped into the place, I thought I was in a gay club (for serious) ’cause everywhere I turn, all were guys (with huge biceps; those serious ones) and some actually looked skeptical AT me. Funny isn’t it? I thought so.

I saw that at the back of the gym, there WERE women so at least it was okay. It’s so damn weird having lots of guys around. It feels as though I’m in a boys school or something like that. I felt.. Uncomfortable. Erk.

Just read today’s Berita Harian and there’s an article featuring David Archuleta. Confirming he IS coming to Singapore this coming April, 7th. And I just realised he is also right-handed in playing the guitar like David Cook. Oh well..

InsyaAllah David Cook will come down to Singapore. No one expected Ungu to come to Singapore last year and have a concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall right? Right. So yeah. No worries, I’ll wait. =)

I know David Cook’s – Come Back To me MV is in the making three weeks ago (it’ll come out in early April) and he is busy with tours till September, so yeah, all’s well.

This week is Motown week on AI. I’m hoping Anoop will ’shine’ this week. Slay Americans and International fans with your voice Anoop! He has to keep on raising his own bar with his vocals or he’ll get lesser votes. Oh well.. Maybe Anoopr’s will get hints on his song choice.

Speak of the devil, I am currently reading a Malay novel TWICE. I just typed it days before and it happened. Razila, Razila. Tsk. The good side is that I have STM so the suspense of what the ending will be, keeps me reading the book.

PS. Happy 13th Birthday Eiqah! =D

What do you think?

March 21, 2009

Isn’t it weird sometimes when you think you are better at something, it does not turn out to be the case? You try your hardest to make what you think to happen but in the end, the outcome remains the same? You think you knew, but at last, it isn’t what it is?

Back in secondary school, I prefered Physics than Chemistry ’cause it was more practical such as using the bunsen burner than calculating a specific amount using the Periodic Table. However, every examination results of mine from Secondary Three to Secondary Five, my Chemistry subject will be better.

It dawned upon me a while ago, how much I’d prefer the Korean language than the Japanese language. Somehow when I tried to say ‘goodbye’ in Korean, instead the Japanese word for it came to mind. I moved on thinking of the phrase ‘ I see’ in Korean but the same thing happens! It’s just that after a few minutes then the Korean phrase for it comes to mind.

As the mafia leader in the KDrama – The Devil says, “Do not trust your brain too much”. I guess it’s true huh.

Oh well.. On a brighter note..

This evening, the skies were extremely orangey with a bit of pink and a full rainbow appeared right outside my bedroom window. SubhanAllah. =)

Allah SWT berfirman,

“… BOLEH JADI KAMU MEMBENCI SESUATU, PADAHAL IA AMAT BAIK BAGIMU, DAN BOLEH JADI (PULA) KAMU MENYUKAI SESUATU, PADAHAL IA AMAT BURUK BAGIMU; ALLAH MENGETAHUI, SEDANG KAMU TIDAK MENGETAHUI.”

[Surah Al-Baqarah : 216]

Fate lies with Him, we plan but He decides.

All these wicked fellows in the KDrama – The Devil, is making me frustrated and joyous at the same time. Frustrated ’cause they cannot prove who The Devil is and them following The Devil’s scheme obliviously. Whereas at other times, it is truly interesting watching them get back at each other due to resentment and revenge.

Crazy, I tell ya. The climax starts on Episode 18 and man, I got goosebumps yo! It was worth the wait since from the beginning, it has been interesting. All the way through the Kdrama – The Devil, I keep telling myself, “What is this?!” every single time I watched it.

MasyaAllah. Ending dia eh! Ish! Tsk, tsk, tsk. Totally unexpected. Goodness. Let me rant first about it okay? Okay.

Who the hell stab him?! Alamak! Siapa ni tikam dia?! In the end, dia mati, si lagi satu tu pun mati. Apa ni?!!! Buat aku ada goosebumps aje! Memang betul la, orang yang ada hati sebusuk nangka takkan puas melainkan dia sendiri sedar dia yang jahat dan ingin berubah jadi baik. Ya Allah.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

Okay done. Well.. It is merely a drama and not a real life experience. *gasp* Na’udzubillah.

I recommend you to watch this KDrama – The Devil. Below is the preview of it but no subtitles though. =)

So, you know what I mean.. And it has become my first favourite KDrama! =)

On a happy note, guess what? I signed for Anoop’s Group Card – an online greeting card for Anoop! Haha. I am semangat or what, yo. =D
